31 Lord of the Rings Memes More Precious Than a Silmaril

It began with the forging of the Great Memes. Three were given to the Original Posters, immortal, wisest and dankest of all beings. Seven to the Meme-Lords, great miners of templates and craftsmen of the subreddit halls. And nine, nine memes were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire upvotes. For within these memes was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another meme was made. Deep in the land of 4Chan, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord forged a master meme, and into this meme he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to downvote all life.

One meme to rule them all.

One by one, the free lands of the internet fell to the power of the meme, but there were some who resisted. A last alliance of men and OPs marched against the armies of 4Chan, and on the very slopes of Mount Reddit, they fought for the freedom of the Internet. Victory was near, but the power of the meme could not be undone.

A character who wasn't an archetypical "badass" protagonist, who needed support and encouragement to keep going, whose struggle was largely internal, who sacrificed his whole mind and body, who ultimately could not do the impossible, could not go home and have a typical happy ending because of the permanent trauma of the journey got to me. -All right.
